"Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth."
"Blessed are the meek" means being gentle and having your strength under control, not being weak or shy, but trusting God instead of boasting or pushing yourself too hard, and God promises that gentle, humble people who trust Him will get to enjoy the wonderful world. Think of it like a superhero who uses their super strength to help, not to show off; or think of a wild horse that has been trained—it is still strong and fast, but it uses that power to follow its rider's lead. We realize our strengths, weaknesses, gifts and talents come from God.
1. When you hear the word "meek," what is the first thing you think of?
2. Can you name a person at school or home who is strong and talented but is humble and doesn't boast?
3. If you win a game or get an A on a test, how do you react?
4. Can you think of a time when Jesus had the power to do anything he wanted (like stop the guards from arresting Him) but chose to be gentle instead?
5. How does being humble make people want to be around you more?
6. What is one "superpower" or talent you have (like being fast, smart, or artistic) that you can use to humbly help others instead of showing off?
