When early Christians would pray, they would cross their arms and touch each shoulder with the opposite hand. During Lent, meat, eggs, fat, and milk were forbidden to eat. In the 600’s, a young Italian monk baked a Lenten bread of water, flour, and salt forming the dough into the prayer position as a Lenten fasting food. He would give it to his fellow monks as a reminder to pray and fast during Lent & also gave to his students who learned their prayers. This bread is now commonly known as the pretzel.
During Lent eat one pretzel each day and pray:
Dear Jesus, help me to love you and love others today.
