What is Lent

Lent is a period of 40 days beginning on Ash Wednesday & ending on Holy Thursday as a time of preparation  for Easter just as Advent is a time of preparation for Christmas. Sundays are not counted because they are considered Little Easters because they celebrate the resurrection of Jesus.  The 40 days is the time that Jesus spent in the desert praying & fasting preparing for his ministry. The 3 main things we do during Lent is prayer, fasting & almsgiving.
